Articulation Prize

The annual Articulation Prize invites those aged between 16 and 19 to deliver a 10-minute presentation to an audience about a work of art, architecture or an artefact in a museum or gallery setting. It is run by the National gallery.

Camden School for Girls has sent participants to this competition for the last thirteen years.

On Monday, 12 January, at the Courtauld Institute of Art, Mathilda, a Y12 student, represented Camden School for Girls at the London heat. Josepha Sanna from the national gallery said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Mathilda to the event. Please do pass on our warmest congratulations to Mathilda for her excellent presentation, and for the impressive work and commitment she brought to it. We were all greatly impressed, and it was a privilege to listen to her talk.”

Although she did not get through to the next round her talk on Rocco Morabito, The Kiss of Life, 1967 July 17th, was highly commended by the competition organisers.

The adjudicators, Alex Bispham and Dr Alan Crookham congratulated Mathilda on “a clear, calm, and confident presentation that successfully connected politics and culture. They both highlighted her excellent visual analysis and the structured, thoughtful development of her ideas. Mathilda’s work demonstrated clarity, insight, and a strong sense of purpose, making a meaningful impression on the audience.”

Well done!

Year 10 Work Experience – Can You Help?

As part of our Year 10 curriculum, students will be taking part in a work experience placement from 13 to 17 July 2026.

We are currently looking for placement opportunities and would be incredibly grateful for any support from our school community.

If you are a parent, governor, or staff member who may be able to offer a placement – whether in your own workplace or through a personal contact – please do get in touch. Placements can provide invaluable experience and insight for our students as they begin thinking about their futures.

If you are able to help, or would like more information, please contact Anna Kranwinkle (akranwinkle@csg.school).

Thank you for your continued support!

Year 12 Drama Trip to Barbican

On Tuesday 13 January, Ms E-P and Ms Smith took 15 Sixth Form students to see 'Twelfth Night' at the Barbican, which transferred to London after it's sold out run at the RSC.

It was a brilliant production, moving seamlessly between humour and the more poignant moments alongside a gorgeous original score. This production utilised movement and clowning to make Feste the most memorable character of the show. The students loved seeing this play, some for the first time and some as a way to enhance their A-Level studies. Students seemed inspired to use some of what they saw in their current devising unit!

Many thanks to Ms E-P for organising the trip!

Year 7 Music

One of our Year 7 Music classes has started group trombone tuition with expert leadership from Mr Pritchard, our Brass teacher. In the first lesson, students learned how to get their instruments ready to play, and they made some very impressive first notes.

Emma from Magic Breakfast visited our school assembly on Monday to emphasise the importance of breakfast. The main points from the presentation are:

  • A well-balanced breakfast boosts energy, improves concentration, and enhances physical performance.
  • Research shows students who regularly eat breakfast often score higher on GCSE exams.
  • Skipping this essential meal can lead to low energy, mood swings, and a feeling of 'brain fog.'
  • A healthy breakfast should include a mix of fruits, protein, and whole grains for sustained energy.
  • Myth-busting confirmed that skipping breakfast often leads to over-eating later in the day.
