Year 12 Geography

On Monday 11 May, 14 Year 12 Geographers went to the UCL Schools and Colleges Climate Action and Sustainability Conference. The day began with a guided tour of the London Intersections exhibition, which explores how built environment research shapes the city and influences daily life in London, before listening to lectures from a range of different departments within the Bartlett Institute, including Earth Sciences, Energy System Modelling and Sustainable Urbanism. It was a fascinating insight into life at a multidisciplinary education hub and highlighted the critical role that higher education institutions play in tackling complex, modern problems.

Year 9 Speeches Competition

This term, all year 9 students wrote and performed speeches on a topic of their choice. The teachers and students were incredibly impressed by the high standard, so the task of selecting 2–3 from each group to go through to the final was a challenge. On Wednesday, the 12 finalists gathered in the main hall to deliver their speeches in front of the whole year group and the judges, Ms Law and Ms Kranwinkle.

The brilliant speeches covered a wide range of fascinating topics and really were exceptional.

Year 9 Theatre Trip

On Wednesday afternoon, a large group of Year 9 students and some Year 12s went to the Old Vic Theatre to see an adaptation of Ken Kesey’s novel 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest'. The standing ovation given by CSG students and the rest of the audience was testament to their enjoyment of this powerful production. Here is Marianne 9M's review:

I really enjoyed the Year 9 trip to see One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at the Old Vic Theatre. It was an amazing experience and the production had an incredible cast, set and wonderful special effects. The production, set in 1960s America, told the story of Randle McMurphy, a rebellious patient and his interactions with other patients and was narrated by a supposedly deaf and mute patient, a Native American Chief Bromden. The play explored many intense themes but was told in an incredibly moving and dramatic way with captivating stage design. I definitely would recommend going and seeing it yourself if you can, and thank you to the English teachers who came with us, especially to Ms Trench who organised the trip!
