Model UN

Drin and Rebecca, two Y12 students, set up a Model UN club in the Sixth Form in the Autumn term which has become more and more popular with large numbers of students joining. They also organised all aspects of 3 trips in order for the club to enter these very prestigious competitions.

I would like to personally thank them for all their hard work and dedication. They have been truly impressive in their efforts and their achievements!

Please see student testimonials below.

February: Oxford Novice Nations MUN

Drin:
The MUN trip to Oxford went amazingly well.  Our cohort managed to win 5 awards on lots of different committees. The students got the chance to interact with other delegates from over 7 different countries, including the US, Peru, Turkey, but also interact with students from schools such as Eton College and St Edward IV School. Moreover, the Oxford conference hosted several different expert speakers in the world of academia and diplomacy. It was very useful as all the committees were chaired by Oxford students, and we got to ask them direct questions about how applications worked and university life. I myself managed to speak to several different chairs studying PPE and I received some very helpful advice.

April: International MUN

A prestigious conference held in Reims at the Sciences Po University, which is the highest-ranking political institution in the world.

Rebecca:
The Reims MUN trip was such a formative and amazing experience. Ranging from meeting people from so many different places to evolving my debating skills in a committee I was unfamiliar with, I learnt so, so much. I’ve become much more confident as a debater as well as gained a bond with my classmates through shared experiences. I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed the trip and would encourage others to engage in similar ones in the future!

Eva:
The Model UN conference at the Sciences Po campus in Reims was an incredible experience that truly solidified my passion for international relations. I was able to dive headfirst into intense debates that pushed me far beyond my comfort zone. The trip did not simply help me better understand the theory behind global cooperation, it was a catalyst for personal growth, helping my confidence soar as I navigated complex global issues, with a proud voice. Meeting so many new people, all driven by a shared, vested interest in repairing our world’s diplomatic ties was incredibly inspiring.

Drin:
I’ve been on quite a few MUN trips before, but I’ve never been so taken aback by the organisation and the sheer volume of activities in a conference as I have been with Reims. The conference had a total of 17 committees. I personally took part in the 2028 Democratic Primary election. The quality of debating from both the university students and our own Camden students was beyond amazing, and we engaged in several discussions over the importance of individual state sovereignty and the significance of abortion rights in a politically turbulent climate. Apart from the debating, the conference gave us the opportunity to meet people from over 40 countries and socialise at both the Gala and a celebratory gathering. I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in the current state of the world to put themselves forward for MUN in the future.

Our delegation won an award in every single committee we attended, both the US Democratic Primary 2028 Specialised Committee and the UN Security Council.

April: LIMUN King’s College

Sadie:

The largest Model United Nations conference in the UK. We were a delegation of 20 and between us, we accumulated the most awards for any large delegation – the best award at the conference. Between us, we won several ‘most diplomatic’, ‘most improved’ and ‘honourable mentions’.

Drin:

This was an amazing opportunity which gave the students exposure to so many different aspects of debating, but they also got to meet so many new and international people from so many different countries due to the worldwide reach of this conference.

Year 9 reading champions

Year 9 reading champions have been delivering 'library mornings' this year to Year 7 and 8 students to share their love for reading. They've been working very hard to give specially-selected and personalised book recommendations for younger students.

Congratulations to all the Year 9s involved!

Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition

The Silver DofE expedition to the Peak District commenced with seamless precision. Every student arrived promptly, and thanks to the kind assistance of a platform supervisor, our group was able to board the EMR train to Sheffield ahead of the crowd. Having secured an entire coach for ourselves, our students settled in with an enthusiasm that was undoubtedly felt by our fellow commuters!

Upon arrival in Sheffield, the adventure continued with a quick transfer. With some light encouragement, the train guard held the connecting train as our energetic Camden cohort made their way on board. Finding seats at a premium, the students showed their true resilient spirit by making themselves comfortable wherever space allowed – mainly the floor.

Remarkably, the official expedition hasn’t even begun yet—we look forward to the journey ahead!

Parent Governor Election

We have 2 vacancies for a Parent Governor on the school’s Governing Body, which is made up of 18 members including foundation, staff, and Parent Governors. There are four Parent Governors in total, and this is an opportunity to join them in helping shape the future of the school. At CSG, we are committed to building a diverse and representative Governing Body. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented communities, especially parents from Bengali and Somali backgrounds.

What Does a Parent Governor Do?

Parent Governors are elected by the parents and carers of students currently registered at the school and serve a four-year term. While most parents are eligible to stand and vote, there are some restrictions. You can check the eligibility criteria here.

The Governing Body works in a supportive and collaborative way, with a shared commitment to the success and wellbeing of the school. Our three main responsibilities are:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the school’s educational performance;
  • Overseeing financial performance and ensuring funds are well spent.

Time Commitment

  • Full Governing Body Meetings: Twice per term (Autumn term), once per term (Spring), twice per term (Summer Term) from 08:00-10:00am.
  • Committee Membership: Each governor joins one of the two standing committees, which meet virtually (via Google Meet) from 8:00–9:00 am once or occasionally twice per term.
  • Link Roles: Governors are connected to a specific subject or policy area, making at least one visit per year and contributing to policy reviews or updates.
  • Training: New governors are expected to attend induction training and participate in other relevant training.

Meeting papers are shared a week in advance, and governors may occasionally be consulted by email on urgent matters.

How to Apply or Nominate

If you are interested in becoming a parent governor—or would like to nominate another parent—you’ll need to complete a nomination form. Self-nominations are welcome. Each nomination must be signed by the nominee, a proposer, and a seconder.

Nomination Form

Please return completed nomination forms and a short personal statement to the school by midday on Friday 19 June, either by email or by post, addressed to: Duska Cutler, Clerk to the Governors

If we receive more than one nomination, we will hold an election and all families will be invited to vote.

If you would like more information about the role, feel free to contact me directly.
